 Austin 7 Chummy

1933 Austin 7. This car was a milk carrying car, with a rear door and long body. Unfortunately it had the rear door filled in during the restoration and subsequently the body was shortened to suit the owners whim.

 Austin 7 Ruby Saloon.

A very rare Australian bodied sports car. Built in NSW by Bill Conaughty, these cars are sometimes referred to as the "Comet", which was the name used for his race car. Two of the original six are known to survive. They were based on "Nippy" and "Speedy" running gear.

Holden bodied 1930 Austin 7 Fabric saloon

 Clementine is a rare survivor.
Yes, that is just fabric covering the wood framed body. So it is no great surprise that these cars did not often last long.

Holden started out in Australia as a coachbuilder, making bodies for cars imported as a scuttle and chassis. This I understand was a government scheme to increase local business opportunities. That idea sure worked! Holden is now a huge car manufacturer. Lets hope they can keep the business going strong right here in Australia...
